„THE FUTURE OF TOURISM”
2 - 4 th June 2022
The objective of the International scientific conference "The Future of Tourism", organized by the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja, University of Kragujevac, to be held 2-4th June 2022 in Vrnjačka Banja, refers to the future of tourism. The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic are obvious in all aspects of everyday life. Since the tourism industry is extremely sensitive to such a crises, the basic idea of the Conference is to provide insights into the current tourism issues and forecast the trends of its future development.
Tourism is among the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions and a sharp decrease in consumer demand have led to an unprecedented decline in international tourist arrivals, which in turn has led to evident negative economic and social consequences. Worldwide destinations that rely most on tourism income are most affected. Despite a slight revival in 2021, which can be described as encouraging, tourism turnover is still far below the level of the pre-pandemic period. There is an ongoing debate in the academic community at the global level on how to respond to future challenges in tourism. Hence, the 7th International Scientific Conference will aim to reveal the future of tourism and the conditions in which tourist trips will be realized in the years to come. Therefore, this event is seen as a great opportunity to exchange experiences and widen the knowledge regarding the challenges that tourism is facing and those that are yet to come.
In achieving the aforementioned Conference objectives, we highly encourage contributions of academics and practitioners in the fields of tourism, economics, management, law, urban planning, sociology, demography, geography, both from Serbia and other countries. The organizer intends to open the debate on the future role of tourism in the economy of different countries, factors influencing tourism development in future, measures needed to cope with development challenges, especially those relevant to the ongoing pandemics, the ways of ensuring the competitiveness of business, etc. It is expected that Conference discussion will not only provide the answers to ongoing debates but also encourage new ones, with the aim to enhance tourism-related theory and practice.
